ARC Raiders is opening its doors to new players for four days, giving anyone interested in the extraction shooter a chance to experience the complete game without paying upfront. The promotion begins October 8 at 9:00 a.m. UTC and runs until October 12 at 8:00 a.m. UTC across Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation. Because the event arrives alongside the major Frozen Trail update, players can jump directly into the newest content rather than trying an older version of the game. Raiders who later want to improve their progression may look into ARC Raiders Coins, but the free event itself requires no purchase to experience the full game.
Full Game Access Changes The Trial Experience
This is more than a short introductory demonstration. During the promotion, players receive access to the full ARC Raiders game, allowing them to explore Topside, gather resources, fight dangerous ARC machines, encounter other players, and attempt to extract safely. That makes the event particularly useful for people who have been watching the game from the sidelines but were unsure whether the extraction format was right for them.
The timing also makes it easier for groups of friends to experiment together. Extraction shooters can be difficult to understand when played alone for the first time because players have to balance exploration, combat, inventory management, and escape decisions. Bringing experienced players into a squad can make that learning process much smoother. Veterans can explain when to search, when to fight, and when to leave before a promising run becomes a costly failure.
Pendola Pass Gives The Free Event A Fresh Destination
Frozen Trail is the major reason this free period feels particularly significant. The update introduces Pendola Pass, a snowy region north of the Rust Belt that adds steep terrain and a new set of environmental challenges. One of its most striking landmarks is the wreckage of the Emperor, a gigantic fallen ARC whose presence reinforces the dangerous relationship between Raiders and the machines occupying Topside.
The map also introduces Flash Freezes, creating sudden cold conditions that can complicate movement and survival. Pendola Pass combines tight industrial interiors with open snowy spaces, so players can encounter very different combat situations depending on where they travel. The vertical design is another important feature, giving movement and positioning greater importance than they might have on more familiar routes.
Frozen Trail Adds A Large Collection Of Content
The update introduces three new ARC enemies: Bully, Skulker, and Hydra. Initially restricted to Pendola Pass, these machines give the new region its own set of dangers and force players to adjust their approach. The Frigate adds another major activity. This massive vessel can appear as a world event and contains puzzles, difficult encounters, and valuable loot, creating an objective that can attract several players at once.
Weapons and progression systems are also expanding. Frozen Trail adds a revolver and battle rifle, while Weapon Amplification lets players improve existing guns instead of constantly replacing them. Outposts offer additional progression and customization opportunities, and the Research Station supports higher-tier weapon modifications. A grappling hook further expands movement options, while the addition of instruments such as a banjo and harmonica adds a lighter social element to raids.
New Progression Makes The Weekend Worth Using
Frozen Trail replaces Raider Decks with a Reward Pass containing free and premium tracks. Players who own the base game can access the free track, while the premium track for the 60-level pass requires 1,150 Raider Tokens. This provides another progression target for players who decide to stay with the game after their first few raids.
The most sensible approach for newcomers is to treat the free event as a genuine evaluation period. Players considering ARC Coins should first understand the game's resource economy, weapon handling, extraction rhythm, and progression systems. Once those fundamentals make sense, it becomes much easier to decide whether additional purchases are worthwhile. With four full days of access and Frozen Trail arriving at exactly the same time, this is one of the strongest opportunities yet for curious players to find out what ARC Raiders is really like.
